Partial Birth Abortion

Partial birth abortion is when an abortion doctor pulls a not fully developed fetus, usually the fifth or sixth month of pregancy, out of a woman's womb. With the head left inside the birth canal, the doctor takes scissiors and punctures the back of the baby's skull. Next, he inserts a tube into the cut and removes the brain with a powerful suction tool. Once the brain is removed, the deceased baby is then delivered. As many as 3,000 to 5,000 partial birth abortions are performed each year. An act was brought before the Supreme Court to only allow this procedure to occur if the mothers life is in danger because of preexisting conditions or because of the pregnancy itself, but the bill was vetoed by Bill Clinton. This procedure received its name because the baby is not completely taken out of the mother's womb. An actual birth requires a baby to be taken out of the mother's body, once delivered, the baby must take a breath or show signs of life. Many people believe that the mother is given anesthetics so that the baby does not experience any pain, but the American Society of Anesthetics stated that this statement is not true. It is said that this procedure is extremely painful for the baby because the doctors do nothing to minimize the pain.

In my opionion, partial birth abortion is murder. I believe that the this option should only be avaiable to women or young girls who have been raped or molested and refuse to carry the baby to term. Each state in the United States should pass tougher laws to ban this precedure and actually make sure it is enforced.

In my opinion, this procedure should be banned!! I can not believe that someone would actually agree to such an inhumane, torturous act to their own unborn infant. I hope that a new bill will be passed so that anonther baby will have to suffer through this.
